On October 4, Kangaroo Study successfully hosted the "Excel in Sec-1" Guide Seminar to Master Sec-1 Math. The seminar attracted over 800 parents and students in Singapore; the Convention Centre was almost filled and the atmosphere was extremely lively!

The Convention Centre hall was filled up!

Positive feedback from parents poured in after the seminar ended!
1 Seminar Overview
The seminar was designed for students and parents of students who had just completed the PSLE, aimed at supporting students smoothly transition from Primary to Secondary school.
The seminar was led by Tr. Wenlong and Tr. Jeremiah, Kangaroo Study's Secondary Department Heads. Both teachers have extensive experience in teaching mathematics and bring unique educational philosophies. They not only have a deep understanding of Singapore's education system and students' common learning challenges, but also place strong emphasis on heuristic guidance: encouraging students to think independently, develop logical reasoning, and gradually discover problem-solving methods that suit them.
The 5 key concerns of Primary 6 parents were covered, including:
Let's take a look at what went down during the seminar!
The seminar was held at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Centre. By 1 PM, many parents had already arrived with their children. The registration area was bustling with people, and both parents and students were filled with anticipation and excitement.

Our teachers guiding families into the hall
At 2 PM, the seminar officially began.

Many parents were taking out their phones to take photos, videos and even notes so as to not miss out on any information!

Next, Tr. Wenlong introduced the most important mathematics competition at the secondary level—the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO). He deep-dived into the high difficulty level, highlighting how it helps students build higher-order mathematical thinking. He also pointed out how planning early and accumulating experience steadily can support students in consistent progress step by step.
Tr. Wenlong then shared the outstanding achievements of our students in the 2025 SMO: 51 students advanced to Round 2 (43% of national qualifiers); 15 Ranked in Top 30 and 5 Ranked in Top 10; 17 students successfully joined the Junior Training Team. In addition, our students have also excelled in school examinations with over 80% scored an A1 in WA1 & WA2!

After the hour and half, the seminar concluded with warm applause. Many parents stayed behind to speak with our teachers, sharing their questions and reflections.

The transition from primary to secondary school is a major challenge for both children and families. A faster learning pace and higher expectations in math can often bring confusion and anxiety.
This seminar not only provided students withstructured methods for learning secondary school math, helping them adapt more quickly and build confidence, but also offered parents practical strategies for supporting their children, so they know how to walk alongside them during this transition.
Thank you to every parent for your trust and support! Kangaroo Study will continue to accompany you and your children on the journey of secondary school mathematics. We look forward to seeing you again at our next seminar!

As mentioned in the seminar, Kangaroo Study is offering an End-of-Year Programme to help students make full use of their holidays. The course will be led by Tr. Wenlong and Tr. Jeremiah, focusing on key foundational topics that students tend to struggle with when they reach Secondary 1 due to a lack of prior exposure.
