PSLE 1+1+1 Workshop Recap

Nora老师
When it comes to PSLE preparation, the importance of mock exams cannot be overstated. They’re not just practice papers—they are a true mirror, helping students see both their strengths and their weak spots.
But for many parents, home-based mock tests often come with challenges:
  • After finishing a paper, there’s no teacher to give immediate feedback.
  • Parents end up marking the scripts, but it’s hard to judge whether the child has really understood.
  • Wrong questions tend to pile up, and before long, they’re left untouched or forgotten…
So what if right after the exam, students could get their papers marked immediately, and have a teacher go through the answers on the spot?
Mistakes would be identified and corrected instantly, while the concepts are still fresh. Learning becomes much more effective!
The 1+1+1 Mock Exam
To address this problem and improve revision efficiency, Tr. Ma from Kangaroo Study designed a special P6 Mock Exam Class.
He introduced a new 1+1+1 format, with 1 hour Paper 2 mock exam + 1 hour immediate explanation + 1 personal PAIS report.
Students completed a full mock exam under real exam conditions. Immediately after, scripts were marked and the class moved straight into a detailed review session. Finally, each child received a personal report from Tr. Ma, helping them identify key focus areas.
In this way, students could spot their problems, clarify doubts, and strengthen their skills — all within the same session.
Many parents were delighted with the results and shared their positive feedback after the class (Parent feedback screenshots)
Step-by-Step Recap of the Session
1. Careful Preparation Every paper was carefully curated by Tr. Ma, aligned closely with the PSLE syllabus. From classroom setup to timing rules, everything was arranged to simulate a real exam environment.
2. Mock Exam (1 hour) The test began, with students completing the full paper independently. Time was strictly enforced, replicating the actual PSLE environment.
3. Immediate Marking While students took a short break after the exam, Tr. Ma and his assistants got to work marking the scripts right away. Both speed and accuracy were key, ensuring that students got their results and mistakes as soon as they returned.
4. On-the-Spot Review (1 hour) This was the highlight of the session:
  • Step-by-step walkthrough: Tr. Ma analysed the key questions, especially those where most students lost marks.
  • Error analysis: Not just “what went wrong”, but also “why it went wrong” and “how to avoid it next time”.
  • Correction time: Students corrected their mistakes immediately, reinforcing the right methods.
  • Interactive Q&A: Students were encouraged to ask questions, with Tr. Ma clarifying doubts patiently, ensuring no concept was left unclear.
5. Personalised Learning Report After the class, each student received a detailed individualised report written by Tr. Ma. This included:
  • Score breakdown and error analysis
  • Strong topics vs weaker areas
  • Targeted follow-up practice suggestions
Parents could clearly see their child’s current standing, along with a concrete action plan for improvement.
